56o beats QQ
Topic: Great Rakes
After reading the log, I'm a little suprised I did this. I was short stacked at about 5 rounds left. everyone folded so I decided to bully my target for the night. He has been giving up his blinds to me most of the tourney. I prefer 56s but I guess I decided to bully with 56o. He went all in with QQ which I don't blame him. I wouldn't fold QQ to a desperate short stack who has been bullying me all night. The cards fell in my favor and I hit a straight on the river. I don't know what the math is for these starting pockets but I've been putting more strenght in suited connectors after some recent readings and Podcast advice. I call it plain luck for this hand. I made first place in this tourney so this hand was key. So this was a great rake for me but a bad beat for him.

Awesome full house play!
Mood:  vegas lucky
Topic: Great Rakes
Last four players at the final table and I limp in with a K8o. I was a small blind so it was cheaper for me to get in plus a King is strong in short handed play. Flop comes 8-8-3 so now I have a set with a strong kicker plus what are the chances of the other 8 being in my opponents hands. If there was a pair six out there, there probably should've been a raise in short handed play? After the flop there is no bet/raise and I slow play. Turn comes a king and the opponent bets. So I'll assume they made a hand and must be excited plus I gave no sign of having anything. I have full house and the only way to lose is to split if the other king shows on the river. I was dying to shove with the nuts as Mike the Mouth says. So I shove with the nuts or I go all in and he calls. He doesn't play anymore after that! It feels good to go all in without fearing anything.
